Surveying the recent flood damage in our area, my partner and I came across a child’s toy resting almost ..“purposefully” atop a mass of driftwood that had been lodged on a “low water” bridge.
The area has a history of strange occurrences (Bigfoot sightings and vocalizations, large black cat sightings, etc), this was one of the reasons we were in this area so it was decided to do an experiment with “gifting”.
Gifting has become a popular tactic among some in the the Bigfoot research community, this entails leaving something as a gift for these “creatures” in the hopes that they may gain familiarity with the person/persons leaving the gifts. Thus increasing the likelihood of capturing evidence of their existence.
Many times food items are left but also small trinkets such as small toys or anything that would be of interest to a curious animal. It has been reported sometimes items are left by these creatures in place of the original gifts, as a form of exchange . Small unusual rocks, stick “folk-art” pieces and bird feathers are among some of the items that have been left as sort of an exchange supposedly.
Given the obvious problems with leaving any sort of food item (any number of animals would be drawn to this) we decided to leave our newly reclaimed toy in hopes of enticing a response.
A stump was chosen in close proximity to railroad tracks and a river we were walking along. The toy was placed out of sight of the causal walking person but not so much as to be completely hidden from a particularly curious creature.
